Pares Balta Cava Brut (Bubbly), $9

I think I've found the most charming Brunch destination in Singapore. Everything from the decor down to the food was simply marvelous. I loved how they brought together Mediterranean flavours and influences from some of my favourite cities - Spain, Greece and Morocco. The result is unexpectedly wonderful - you get to enjoy Cava from Spain, strained Yoghurt and smoky Haloumi from Greece, Shakshouka from the Middle East, and so on, all in one place.

Fruit and Yoghurt: Rhubarb and Apple Compote, Honeyed Greek Yoghurt, Pistachios, $10

The honeyed Greek yoghurt was really smooth and creamy, owing to the straining process. The chopped pistachios added a lovely bite and the rhubarb and apple compote tasted fabulous - adding a balanced sweetness to the yoghurt. The group of us thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Scrambled Eggs and Organic Mushrooms, $16

R had the scrambled eggs and organic mushrooms. The organic mushrooms and crumbled feta were wonderful, but their scrambled eggs were what completely blew us away - so darn creamy and delicious! You know how sometimes scrambled eggs turn out way too mushy or tough? The one here at Artichoke strikes a fantastic balance - you can just see it from the pictures. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had in Singapore, hands down!

Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Bacon Chop, Artichoke

Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Bacon Chop, $18

This dish here marries the best of both worlds - amazing scrambled eggs and a slab of heavenly, heavenly smoked bacon chop. We're talking about a half-inch thick slab of maple smoked bacon right there. Incredibly delicious!! For the sake of sustainable health, however, I'd advise just having one of these per table to share.

Relaxed Alfresco Courtyard

Isn't their quaint, laidback courtyard just the perfect place to unwind on a breezy day? I must say, the ambience, food and service really made this the best brunch experience I've had in Singapore. Though the simple but highly satisfying poached egg toasts at The Plain do come close.

P.S. Reservations for weekends are highly advised!

  3. hello! just wanted to recommend another brunch place. choupinette at bukit timah is a nice brunch place for good eggs benedict. I love their poached eggs with the runny yolk and the hollandaise sauce. its quite a small and packed place though.

  5. Have you encourted the man with specs(first picture)? He seem to be the boss.He is a strange and rude man but his staffs are all friendly. That why what you see the menu today,it will change due to staffs resignation.I encountered that man scolding a customer during my friday dine in.

  6. hey anon, the man in the first picture was actually very friendly towards my party when I dined there about two weeks ago. How did he scold the customer? Could it be an isolated incident?

  7. Hi Anon,

I don't know how you get your information, but it seems that you are totally misinformed. I'm an employee at artichoke, and the be spectacled man you are referring to is not the owner. The owner is a bald guy named Bjorn, who's the head chef in the kitchen. The guy in the first picture is the manager. The menu at artichoke changes because Bjorn, the chef/owner works closely with his producers for fresh ingredients, and believes in spontaneous cooking (not cooking the same thing all the time). That's why the menu changes as and when the chefs come across new ingredients etc (please see http://artichoke.com.sg/menu.html).

If you have an issue with our manager, you are more than free send your feedback via email/phonecall. Please don't start shooting false statements/assumptions online. It is totally untrue that staff constantly leave/resign. I know this because I have worked here for over 6 months now, and all of us are like family to each other (12 of us just went on a weeklong company-paid vacation to bangkok as a reward for our hard work), and all of us are treated very well especially by indusrty standards.

I'm sorry if this offends you, and do know that I am not acting on behalf of artichoke. I am just very upset because I work there, and cannot sit and watch while someone makes false accusations our boss/company without first finding out the facts.

PS, while most customers are an absolute pleasure to serve, there are those who's behaviours are destructive to our collegues and other customers around them. Our manager (pity the guy) has the unfortunate job of dealing with the occasional intoxicated/unreasonable/uncooperative/abusive guests. It's his job to be the good guy to our good guests, and to police the misbehaving ones. Perhaps that's what you saw... my sincere 2 cents worth.

  10. Hi Lin, I've included the prices below the pictures. We spent $44 before gst and not including our drinks. I've not tried their dinner yet, but I've heard good stuff about it. Let me know what you think about their dinner if you've gone for it!
